Lunar Vacation - “Daytime”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 8

Pairs Well With…Swearin’, CHVRCHES, Best Coast

Breezy synth/indie rock band Lunar Vacation hasn’t released new music since 2018 EP Artificial Flowers, so expect SXSW 2020 to feature new tracks continuing their cozy chillwave grooves. The Atlantan quartet maintains sunny, or at least partly cloudy, air on their early catalog, impressive as they often add garage rock crunch to melodies and soundscapes, yet incorporate them with a keen sense of distance. 2019 Review: A myriad of dream pop, synth action, and breezy, surf rock, Lunar Vacation melds indie rock styles into loose, comfortable, and efficient tracks. Balancing melancholic and bright, the Atlanta band demands a listen outside on a sunny day, or at least longing for such from the dead of winter. Their latest is Artificial Flavors, the band’s sophomore EP and a well-rounded piece even at just four songs.
