With a plaintive and melancholy approach, Mara Connor finds a heartfelt space on a trio of introductory tracks since debuting in 2018 with the sweet pop tones of “No Fun”. Connor takes influence both from 60s/70s Laurel Canyon pop and more modern, washed out sounds, but the weight of nostalgia is key part of the lower airy melodies in the Californian’s voice. Her latest track is the folkiest, breeziest song in her young catalog - “Wildfire” resonates though with light tones throughout, a hidden pop gem disguised as a classic alt-country tune.
