me&you - “Georgia”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…Ferris & Sylvester, Jamestown Revival, Cicada Rhythm

There can be something special about the harmonies of siblings who have been singing and playing together since school talent shows, and me&you’s brother and sister duo, Conner and Karlee Hormell definitely have it.  After a month-long camping and writing trip in New Zealand, the California natives returned with a six song EP, “Chasing Trails.”  The stand-out track is probably “Georgia” which has nice piano and kick drum help and builds well to the chorus. The song is solid Americana but with a honkytonk energy reminiscent of Austin standbys Jamestown Revival.  “Small Town” is in a similar vein with the title song, “Chasing Trails,” more of a traditional Americana folk ballad. They list many artists as influences, but we can hear Lord Huron, Jim Croce, Brandi Carlisle, among the many they have given in interviews.  me&you says one of their greatest joys is hearing the audience sing along, so to get you started, here’s a line from the chorus of “Georgia” -  “We all get broken, we all get lost, We’re always hoping love will come.”  Don’t be shy, belt it out with them and us.
