Michigan-based soul artist MYNA takes a classic, new soul vibe and adds some smokey atmospherics and hint of chillwave cool on 2018 debut Roy G Biv and recent EP Bahn Presents…Bad Luv, a smooth and accessible groove inflected with hip hop rhythms and flow. MYNA goes between her natural, pop-knowing vocals and occasional raps on record, a confident and controlled instrument nicely bridging 90s-like melodies and alternative R&B from today. There’s a nice sultriness to MYNA’s sound on record, a lounge/bedroom atmosphere that matches the jazzed backbeats and sweetened mysteriousness of MYNA’s lines and soundscapes. (Kevin McStravick)
