SAINT PHNX - “Sorry”
SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 10
Pairs Well With…Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Years and Years
Everything SAINT PHNX does turn into hooks, so it’s no surprise that their debut 2020 full-length DDMN doesn’t quit, an arena-sized record of modern rock shine, industrial rhythms, and electronic R&B moods. While big and catchy, SAINT PHNX’s music isn’t necessarily bright, powered more by emotion and digital propulsion than just sunny melodies. Tightly produced and keeping the grand, ambitious atmosphere through every track, DDMN is a successful collection from a band begging for big stages to blow up their accessible electro-rock sound. 2019 Review: Big pop/rock hooks define SAINT PHNX’s sound, electronic/alt rock ready for mainstream play and festival stages. Modern rock crunch and indie pop lushness play against each other on songs like 2018 singles “Deadmen” and “Death of Me”, empowering with consistently upbeat and percussive melodies. Lookout for SAINT PHNX’s mastery of the big chorus, delivering memorable lines of ear worm intensity with notable ease.
