Breaking off from his main gig with The Deslondes, Sam Doores is throwing back to the roots of rock and roll with his self-titled solo debut due this March. While “Let It Roll” and “Other Side of Town”, two singles previewing the record, could have bled of the wax of a record recorded sixty years back, there is some breezy, lo fi personality to Doores’ performance that adds just a hint of psychedelic soul to his otherwise measured sound. Like reflecting in a dream more than actually living in the past, Doores presents his music with nice distance, a filtered approach to give reverence and space to a studied, rooted sound.
