S.G. Goodman - “Hammers” (as The Savage Radley)

Pairs Well With…Jessica Pratt, Brandi Carlile, Erin Rae
Kentucky-based singer-songwriter S.G. Goodman recently shed her previous moniker The Savage Radley, expectedly in preparation to follow up 2017’s wide-ranging Americana debut Kudzu. Goodman often takes a patient and pretty approach to the genre led by ballads “Werewolf” and “Milk and Honey”, but tracks like the burning, garage rock infused “Gone” show an artist loaded with grit to match her roots-embodied vocal. Foot-stomping ramblers like “Hammers” and “Worm (On Hot Pavement)” add swampy reverb to Goodman’s sound, a trend that emboldens her music well beyond her seemingly natural roots. (Kevin McStravick)
