Sorry - “More”

Pairs Well With…Fontaines D.C., Shame, Cherry Glazerr
Jangly UK duo Sorry have a sound that mixes post-punk and indie rock genres in a creative and full way, complexly composed tracks that maintain a darkened, grunge core. Sorry’s music is more weird and psychedelic than pure punk rock, even proggy at times on the first few singles released from their upcoming debut full-length 925. Listen closely and there is a little pop bounce to a heady psych-rock number like “Rock ’n’ Roll Star”, a track that moves from spacious weirdness to a double-time B-section and arpeggiated groove. “Rock Around the Clock” incorporates speak-sing lyrics and a blues-infused riff amid some new-wave synth action, while “More” is led by stoner-rock patterns and an almost breezy, hedonistic chorus. It’s this variety within tracks that makes Sorry especially exciting, a skill they’ve developed over a series of singles since shoegaze-leaning tracks “Wished” and “Lies” in 2017. 925 is due in late March, nicely coinciding with SXSW, a great opportunity to catch these new tracks live where they can breathe and swim even more.
