Indie rock/power pop vets The Posies have chosen SXSW to premiere their upcoming ninth full-length and the first since entering the fourth decade of their career. Known for tightly performed and strongly written slices of alt-rock hooks, Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow are remarkably consistent touring through their back-catalog, but by 2016’s Solid States The Posies are more explorative in electronic rock, indie folk, and psychedelic dream pop becoming core to their personable songwriting. That said, the grunge breezes of 1993 breakout Frosting On The Beater still sounds fresh and the influence on so many new bands exploring a similar sound is a good twist heading into their SXSW showcases.
