The Sewing Club - “Too Well”
SXSW 2024 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 2
Pairs Well With…Big Thief, Katy Kirby, Snail Mail
Soft, bedroom rock ballads underscore The Sewing Club’s music, but the Nashville-based band just adds from there, from guitar reverb, synth waves, or tom percussion that deepen their sound nicely. At its best, The Sewing Club’s music is borderline power pop and even explodes with alt-rock drive at just the right times. Interestingly, the band has been releasing music since 2021 and are purely singles artists so far. As a whole however, this is a diverse and engaging catalog that would make up a killer debut if weaved all together. It’s hard to pick what they do better, catchy pop/rock tunes or lush indie folk, a good problem for a band that has a tight, focused sound from note one. Wednesday night is The Sewing Club’s showcase, performing at Low Down Lounge. (Kevin McStravick)
