Throwing back to 80s new-wave rock, goth-pop artists Vision Video take dark guitar lines and synth waves to produce a sound nostalgically engaging on their 2021 debut Inked in Red. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Vision Video really lean into their Cure-inspired sound especially in the vocals of Dusty Gannon, but shades of early U2 and even Athens godfathers R.E.M. can be found in the band’s playing and songwriting. Vision Video balance rock guitars and pop synths with hazy precision on Inked in Red, a dreamy/driving mix that takes darkwave tones and find catchy light within. (Kevin McStravick)
