While Sugadaisy are an alt-country band at their core, the Nashville duo has a playful, DIY approach that allows their music to grow in new directions. Often sparse and deeply personal, Sugadaisy either play songs as serious or borderline sarcastic. The latter is where they shine the most - the big moments in life oftentimes are stumbling to the point where all you can do is laugh. Sugadaisy’s psych-pop experimentation around Americana roots does exactly that, disarming the melodrama of acoustic folk while still respecting and leaning into the genre. Take that and add some pure-pop, earworm moments and Sugadaisy becomes an exciting band balancing clean and messy with a knowing wink.
