ANAVITÓRIA - “Explodir"

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 10

Pairs Well With…Lucius, Rita Lee, Tegan & Sara

ANAVITÓRIA has continued to evolve their unique Brazilian pop on 2021’s COR, the duo’s fourth full-length and an innovative exploration outside and within the edges of their Latin folk traditions. Synth pop, blues rock, and pastoral ambience all find a place on COR; ANAVITÓRIA’s magic lies in their ability to meld these genres without overtly sounding experimental at any moment. What they do often find is a place of pure beauty, one always aided by the duo’s spot-on harmonies, floating melodies like the echoes of a dream. (Kevin McStravick)

2020 Review: ANAVITÓRIA are a Brazilian duo that base their sound around gentle folk music, but a deeper listen through their three albums preRsents a real sense of breadth. Lush, acoustic tapestries drape the band’s latest full-length N, the band’s softest effort and one that bridges ghostly melodies with spacious orchestration. It’s their most beautiful record note to note, but the poppier O Tempo é Agora is a nice balance that speaks to their far-reaching ambitions and talent.
