Deanna Petcoff covers her otherwise dream-pop sound with some alt-rock heft on the early singles from her upcoming debut On To Hell With You, I Love You, ballads and mid-tempo rock numbers sharing emotive and personal reflections from the emerging Canadian artist. There’s some alt-country influences informing Petcoff’s songwriting as well, a quality that grounds her music and pulls in some subtly anthemic moments. She also gives off an air of confidence even on a songs titled “I Don’t Wanna Get Over You”, “Devastatingly Mediocre”, and “Failing Upwards” - Petcoff isn’t wallowing in self-pity, rather she turns those melancholic emotions to catchy, impactful songs.
