DICE - “Super-Vision”

SXSW 2024 - OEB Score: 9; Popularity Index: 7

Pairs Well With…The Hives, The Last Shadow Puppets, The Libertines

Australian artists DICE deal in jangly rock and roll, catchy tracks recorded in grimy, garage-pop coverings. Tight, power-pop songwriting underpins much of DICE’s material, melodic in both voice and instrumentation. A relatively new outfit with a couple EPs and a smattering of singles between, they’ve found a defined lane and are quite consistent track to track. All of these songs could be lead singles as DICE have a knack for memorable choruses sounding like the best of Brit rock. Every second of DICE’s catalog feels big, ready for festival stages and honed to what would have once been a run of radio hits, back when radio was a thing. While incessantly catchy, DICE’s music never feels overcooked, finding a cool, personable vibe instead of hitting the listener over the head with these enticing rock hooks. (Kevin McStravick)
