Goodnight, moon is the latest collection from prolific artist fuvk, a record that continues the Austin artist’s string of impactful and introspective songwriting. Even with just an acoustic guitar melody often providing the backing for fuvk’s wistful vocals, there’s real weight in her songwriting and performance that make these songs stand out from common coffeehouse fare. Her lyrics are both personal and interesting to a stranger’s ear, observational poetry under a contemporary lens. While often sad and slow, fuvk has a knack for steering her music away from boredom by forging dynamic moments in natural, subtle ways. (Kevin McStravick)
2020 Review: Minimal bedroom folk artist fvck had a busy 2019, releasing two EPs and a couple follow-up singles to add to her vulnerable, tender catalog. While mostly based in lonely, spacious melodies, fuvk twists expectations every few tracks by adding full electro-rock production like on “Break”. The balance is nice, allowing fuvk to experiment while still rotating around a heartfelt core, like emo-pop filtered through layers of comfort and grace. Fuvk’s music is as raw as it is minimal, heartfelt songs endearing in times of hope and sadness. Crafted with personal bedroom pop realness, fuvk connects instantly and shows a great deal of promise as her sound continues to grow.
