Lime Garden - “Bitter”

SXSW 2023 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 4

Pairs Well With…Horsegirl, Dream Wife, Wet Leg

Hypnotic and heavy, Lime Garden hit a heady, progressive zone on their introductory singles, delving into experimental grooves rooted in indie rock, R&B, and krautrock influences. The result is both melancholy and driving, powerful and experimental. Lime Garden do keep rhythm front and center, matching vocal and guitar melodies to the pulsing, mid-tempo rock underneath. It’s an approach that lets the English band explore without being too focused on power-pop songwriting, yielding a sound both dreamy and purposeful, weird but never lost. 2023 would be a great time for an EP or even a full-length to really dig into the range of Lime Graden’s core sound, so fingers crossed that more is to come from this emerging UK quartet.
