Nigerian artist Mannywellz combines Afrobeat, neo-soul, and pop-R&B influences into a smooth, emotive blend on Mirage, his sophomore record and a consistent, down-tempo effort with spacey atmosphere. It’s a pop-oriented album too, light house beats and club-bounce echoed within his otherwise introspective vibe to keep things moving along. There are a couple of hip hop collaborations on Mirage as well, an album with international appeal beyond his Afropop base and one that is as tender as it is well crafted.  Mannywellz has a rich vocal tone as well, understanding the power of a lightly sung melody versus full-on, pop/R&B instincts within his welcoming Afro-soul jams.
