Parliamo - “Echo In My Chamber”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 2

Pairs Well With…Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, U2

Sophomore EP The Parliamo Manifest is a burst of a statement where the Scottish band blows out their sound with anthemic density. Parliamo are drawing influences from 80s and 90s arena and garage rock here, taking on a ‘more is more’ philosophy in terms of hooky melodies and their overall charm. Balancing chaos and control, Parliamo go from lush to gritty within single tracks, adventurous songwriters that sound bigger than ever on this ambitious new set. The end result is really memorable as the band quietly crafts some of the stronger rock tracks of 2021 on The Parliamo Manifesto. (Kevin McStravick)

2020 Review: Part indie rock and part garage pop, Parliamo’s sound is catchy and tight, bursts of guitar leading their punk-born foundation. The Scottish newcomers are raw and full of youthful spirit, sprinting through their 2018 EP Thrill of the Chase and surrounding singles with propulsive energy. While hard driving, Parliamo’s music is more welcoming than aggressive, even warm at times  given their feedback and reverb levels can be maxed out with a tense crunch. Their eight-song catalog is mightily consistent, though recent single “End to End” has the band dipping into alt rock riffage with some mid tempo psych rock jams for a slightly new angle on their visceral presentation.
