Housecall’s “Mystery Girl” is an infectious debut single, a breezy indie rock tune sliced with psychedelic pop dreaminess. Like a washed-out reflection of a 60s surf track, “Mystery Girl” grooves with contemporary malaise, squinting through the song’s inherently bright melodies. The Dallas-based newcomers followed up with a five-track EP Bad Perfection last year that extends the band’s sound with future-funk jammers (“Summer”) and new wave synth rock (“Heatwave”), maintaining their sunny, hooked songwriting  throughout.
