YUNGMORPHEUS’ music feels like a study of classic and indie hip hop, but a lesson that is quietly delivered like a sage dishing out life’s advice. The Miami-based rapper’s most recent record is Affable with Pointed Teeth, a jazzy, understated effort blending psych-rap and soulful hip hop vibes for YUNGMORPHEUS’ stream-of-consciousness, conversational flow. The full-length is a collaboration with Eyedress, a trend YUNGMORPHEUS follows throughout his prolific career releasing records with ewonee, Fumitake Tamura, and Pink Siifu in addition to his solo releases. Affable with Pointed Teeth is his tenth full-length in five years, allowing the creative artist to satisfy an overflow of rap experimentation and quickly share the woozy results. As a lyricist, YUNGMORPHEUS is both personal and sociological, raw and matter-of-fact as he shares his observations with a whispered tone.
