Understated pop artist Zelma Stone released her third EP is as many years with 2021’s The Best, a collection of dream pop tracks delivered with indie and bedroom rock heft. While mostly slow and emotive, there are moments of breakout across The Best that broadens Stone’s sound nicely. The San Francisco based artist mostly whispers her lyrics, melodies that match the hypnotic breezes of her music. Lookout for classic pop melodies and surf rock influences to subtly weave their influence across Stone’s music - she does a great job of transcending nostalgic sounds of the past and placing them into a hazy, contemporary space. Zelma Stone showcases on Friday night on the Swan Dive Patio with an especially strong lineup presented by The Line of Best Fit including Yard Act, fanclubwallet, and BLACKSTARKIDS. (Kevin McStravick)
